Into fall we go

September 30, 2009

Here we are and the real school year begins because it’s fall. The weather is cooler, jackets come out, and the wind is beginning to blow.

This week at a glance:

The students completed their letters to the principal asking for a new sport, activity or class to be offered at the school. They will be scored on their use of the 6 elaboration strategies they have learned. The students are continuing to practice each individual strategy with daily practices and sharing with their table groups or class.
We finished the story Through the Tunnel with a discussion on Tuesday and today talked about some of the themes of the new story Raymond’s Run: how we expect girls to act or behave, standing up for what you think is right, and doing things just because your parents asked you to. Good times!

Week #2 Update

September 10, 2009

Everything is off to a great start already! I finished DIBELS testing in one core class and have the other two to finish with tomorrow. The students are busy writing a letter to me about themselves (look in their notebooks to see the letter I wrote to them) and practicing the important skill of answer questions about text completely and fully.

Next Wednesday is our Open House beginning at 6:30 pm, parents or guardians only please. Looking forward to meeting everyone if I didn’t see you on the Saber Day.
